Part of the hog slaughtering process is hair removal. This is a scalding unit and combines hot water to relax hair follicles and paddles then scrape off the hair. This pig has been stunned and exsanguinated and is dead. For on-farm slaughter, drums of hot water are used to scald a hog then bell scrapers are used to remove the hair.
